If you are still struggling to write your Rear Deck Speech (a prerequisite to coming up with a short, meaningful statement of your Life’s Purpose), I’m not sure if this tool will help you or not, but try it out anyway:

If you do try and use it (and, why not) I suggest that you ignore the concept of the ‘personal mission statement’ (it seems like a bunch of baloney, to me) and instead use some of the phrasing that it comes with at the end to help you write your Rear Deck Speech …

… it’s from that, that I hope that you will find your short (6 to 16 words) statement of your Life’s Purpose, or at least a reasonable facsimile thereof 🙂

Remember: without a clear ‘vision’ of your Life’s Purpose:

    1. The Number that you may select (perhaps using any of the last half-dozen posts to help you) will be meaningless, and

    2. You will not have the psychologcal fortitude to withstand the long, windy journey with its inevitable financial and emotional up/down swings on your way to any ‘stretch’ target (i.e. $3 Mill.++) … of course, if your target is merely $1 Mill. you can just relax and keep funding that 401k and you’ll (eventually) make it 🙂

Let me know if it helped or hindered …

All I can say, AJ, is that it’s pretty da** funny! I let it send me the first one for later editing because it just doesn’t cut-and-paste as easily as they thought it would.

This does take a bit more time than looking at the board, but it is a hoot.

Not making light of how good this could be, but I hope everyone else has a good time with it… It reminds me of a game some folks play with adding words at the end of a fortune cookie’s fortune.

And, it does pinpoint that maybe I need to think about this some more. LOL….

Thanks, it helped clear up some things for me. For those of us who are on the low end of this great experiment we have had steady of diet of “baloney” for a long time and it still satisfies us. On the other end where the steak is we may need to develop a taste for it. Hopefully part of this adventure will allow for us examine what is being said and not just jump because you said jump. I hope to learn some principles that I can incorporate among the things that I am already doing correctly and of course weed out those ways of doing wrong.
    Thanks for being patient.

@ Lee – nothing wrong with eating baloney … there are plenty of places in the world where that would be considered a luxury. The point: it’s all relative … tell me what you NEED to eat, then let’s go from there 🙂
