    Featured Finalist – Jason

I must admit that Jason took me by surprise … I didn’t see that much traffic generated to his page – but, imagination is more important than results at this stage. Just take a look at the armload of links that Jason has tried to drive traffic with … the blogger’s tried and true ‘leave a comment’ system.

The problem is – as Jason has found out – is that it is slow …

But, slow is not a word for our Jason (!), so let’s read his post …

Hi.  This is my first post here at 7m7y.com on my journey to become a Millionaire as one of Adrian’s 7 Millionaire’s In Training.  I’m really looking forward to this journey because I’ve been stuck for quite some time.  Like Adrian, I started out with $30k in debt.  Unfortunately, I have not been able to replicate AJC’s success and get to $7million in 7 years.
Using my methods and my principals, I’ll go from $30k in debt to $1M in 35 year.  That’s way to long!
You see, I use the tried and true principals of spend less than you earn, get your employer’s 401(k) match and maximize your Roth IRA.  These principals work!  I’m slowly accumulating a nice little nest egg that I’ll be able to live off of in retirement.
But, as AJC has mentioned many times … these principals do not lead to wealth!  If I lose my job, there goes my nest egg.  Get sick and forget about those charitable donations.  Oh, and that Ferrari F430 that I want.  I guess I can work until 85 if I really want to.
Let’s face it together … getting rich my way is no fun.  It’s time to learn how to be rich today!  Why wait for that Ferrari?  Why grind to work every day in a boring job?
With Adrian’s help, I’ll be learning how to be rich today.   It’s time to learn how to start and run a business.  It’s time to learn how to be doing exciting work that adds far more value to my community than my desk job.  It’s time to learn how to use the money I make as seeds to grow more money.
Adrian’s done it.  He knows what works and what doesn’t.  He understands the principals of being rich.  He’s the perfect person to learn from.
Just look at our first lesson.  AJC sent us out to drive traffic to 7m7y.  It seemed like an awfully odd instruction.  I mean, 7m7y has tons of traffic and hundreds of applicants.  Why does he have me doing this?
In a follow-up email, I realize that this task has nothing to do with traffic.  It’s about learning to promote oneself … a skill that’s necessary to being a Millionaire.  So, I’ve already learned something on this journey.  How to get over my fear and creatively communicate to others what I want to accomplish and why.
The side benefit of that lesson is that you’re here reading my first post.  I hope you return often and follow me on this journey.  Leave comments, criticism, suggestions and feedback.  Follow along with my fellow 7 Millionaires In Training.  Most of all, join us on this journey and become a Millionaire yourself!

Jason, I feel the same way! I’ve spent the last year learning the “good” stuff, 401k’s and ridding oneself of debt, but I feel that these things are only the groundwork for financial success. When everything’s paid off, what now? I think AJC knows 🙂

My first post was about this as well – I don’t want to spend my life scrimping and saving, so that maybe someday, before I die, I can actually live 🙂
